There is the wooden threshold between the kitchen and the living room, worn smooth by years of footsteps. And there is the hidden darkness beneath sofas and beds—territory where lost coins, forgotten pens, and dust bunnies gather undisturbed.

When we began developing the ata05 at TOALL DESIGN, we placed an early prototype on the floor and let it drive. It rolled under a low coffee table, crossed a door divider, and returned carrying a thick ring of cat fur wound tightly around its axles. A few weeks of testing on rough tiles left microscopic abrasions along the tire treads.
In the modern consumer tech playbook, this wear and tear is rarely seen as a problem to solve. Instead, it is treated as a convenient countdown.
The Built-in Expiration Date
Walk down any electronics aisle, and you will notice a subtle design trend: seamless, sealed enclosures. Screws are hidden under glued-down rubber pads, components are fused with industrial adhesive, and replacement parts simply do not exist in supply chains. When a tiny mechanical wheel clogs or wears smooth after eighteen months, the device loses its mobility. And when a robot cannot move, the entire assembly of cameras, microprocessors, and circuit boards becomes e-waste.
Our brand name, AIONIOS, comes from the ancient Greek word αἰώνιος—eternity. We started with a deliberate question: In an era where hardware is engineered to become obsolete in a single buying season, how can intelligent technology carry an enduring soul?
We decided that eternity in design does not come from making something indestructible; it comes from making something that can be cared for.
A Design Born in Water and Motion

The hardest-working part of any mobile companion is the wheel. It bears the weight of the machine, absorbs every sudden bump against furniture legs, and maintains the friction necessary to climb inclines. If a robot is to remain in a home for a decade rather than a season, the wheel must be open to renewal.
That realization led us to completely rethink the wheel architecture of the ata05.
Instead of sealing the drive unit inside the body, we engineered a modular, tool-free release mechanism. When a wheel gathers dust or pet hair, you do not need a technician or a specialized screwdriver. You simply detach the wheel module with a light click.
For the outer tire, our material lab tested dozens of compounds before settling on a high-density, skin-friendly elastomer. It balances two opposing needs: sufficient grip to scale room dividers, and enough chemical stability to resist drying out or leaving black scuffs on hardwood floors.
Because it is completely waterproof, regular maintenance is as simple as holding the wheel under a stream of cool running water. The trapped dust and pet hair wash away in seconds. The translucent green inner spoke—molded from recyclable engineering thermoplastic—sheds water instantly, ready to snap back onto the chassis with its full mechanical grip restored.
