Walk through any major consumer electronics exhibition and a clear pattern emerges: the smart home is still largely designed from the ceiling down. Automated lights, ambient wall panels, and stationary surveillance hubs dominate the landscape, all quietly reinforcing the idea that monitoring a home means looking down on it from eight or nine feet in the air.

Yet anyone who shares a house with animals or kids understands intuitively that real life does not happen on the ceiling. It unfolds under the dining table, behind bed frames, across thick rugs, and in the tucked-away corners where wall-mounted sensors go blind.
When we brought ata05 out of our workshops to demonstrate it at AWE, that fundamental contrast was precisely what we wanted people to experience. Built by our team at TOALL Design under the AIONIOS brand, ata05 was created to address a long-overlooked blind spot in domestic tech: how to deliver authentic, interactive presence at eye level without turning the home into a surveillance grid.

Navigating everyday residential interiors is a deceptively brutal mechanical challenge. Standard indoor robotics frequently stall because floors are full of physical friction. High-pile carpets catch small casters, door saddles high-center rigid undercarriages, and low sofas block the field of view. Rather than adapting an existing mobile base, our engineers designed ata05 around an ultra-low 74mm chassis specifically sized to glide beneath furniture clearances that typically sit between 80mm and 100mm. Powered by a four-wheel-drive suspension system and high-traction, washable tires, it rolls quietly over thresholds and climbs twenty-five-degree inclines without drawing unwanted attention or disrupting the natural calm of a room.

That focus on mechanical utility and honest materials earned ata05 recognition across the international design community, including honors from the Red Dot Design Award 2026, the iF Design Award 2026, and three Gold Awards at the MUSE Design Awards. But what resonated most with the hardware engineers, creators, and retail partners who spent time with the machine was something simpler: its respect for user privacy and product longevity.

Too much modern consumer electronics relies on locking core hardware features behind recurring monthly fees. We chose the opposite path with ata05. Video footage and ground-level photos save directly to onboard physical storage, allowing owners to view, manage, and download their own clips to their phones without monthly subscriptions. Through our modular Linxport interface, users can attach functional modules and accessories over time, ensuring the machine expands its capabilities instead of becoming obsolete.

Bringing a physical robot from initial prototypes to full production requires continuous collaboration across industrial design, embedded systems, motion calibration, and scalable manufacturing. As we continue expanding fulfillment and working with specialized retail partners across North America, ata05 stands as a working example of what happens when consumer hardware is built with genuine respect for the physical reality of everyday spaces.
